"I had a problem with my rental charges..."
I had a problem with my rental charges and it took way longer than it should have to get sorted out. They did refund part of it in the end, so I’ll give them that, but I had to call more than once to actually get anywhere. The email responses were especially frustrating because they felt like they were coming from a robot, not a real person paying attention to the issue. Not the worst experience ever, but definitely annoying.

"Sloppy hitch install, total waste of a day"
I had U-Haul put a hitch on my SUV, it looked like a bunch of careless amateurs handled it. The wiring was hanging way too low, one of the trim pieces was loose, and the hitch itself looked a little crooked. I spotted it before I even left the lot, and the guy there acted like I was being dramatic instead of admitting it was a sloppy job.
I ended up having to come back another day so they could fix their mess, which wasted even more of my time. Even after that, I didn’t really trust it, so I took it somewhere else to have it checked. I definitely wouldn’t use them for a hitch install again.

"Not exactly a smooth moving day"
The truck broke down halfway through the move, which was pretty much the last thing I needed that day. I’ll give them credit, they did try to sort things out, I guess, but it still turned into a huge hassle. Not sure I’d risk using them again.

"Reservation didn’t help tbh"
I had a reservation set up and still ended up waiting almost an hour just to pick up the truck. There was one person at the counter trying to handle everything, and the line was basically out the door. No one really explained what was going on either, just kept saying it’d be “a few more minutes” lol.

Dropping it off wasn’t exactly smooth either. Like, I totally get that places get busy, but idk what the point of booking a pickup time is if you still end up losing half your day standing around. Super frustrating ngl.

"After-hours pickup didn’t live up to the promise"
I tried the after-hours pickup because it was supposed to be quick and easy, but that was definitely not the case. The app kept freezing over and over, and it took way too long just to get the key. There was nobody around to help either, so I was basically stuck figuring it out on my own. They make it sound convenient, but the reality was a frustrating mess.

I’m still waiting on my deposit refund, it’s been ridiculous. It’s taking forever, and every time I reach out to support, those bozos just come back with another excuse instead of actually fixing it.

At first the rental looked like a great deal, especially compared to a few other options I checked. But once the mileage charges were added in, it ended up costing way more than I expected. What started as a cheap rental didn’t feel so cheap by the end.

"Online booking was a total headache"
I tried booking online and the site kept changing my pickup time on me, then it just crashed. booking sites like this always seem to make a simple thing way more complicated than it needs to be. Super annoying experience.

"Took Much Longer Than I Expected"
I was expecting roadside help to show up fairly quickly, or at least to get regular updates while I waited. Instead, I ended up sitting there for hours with barely any communication. Definitely not the experience I thought I’d have when calling for assistance...

I had to reread the contract a couple of times because some parts weren’t super clear to me. Not sure if anyone else had the same experience, but I wish it had been a little easier to understand upfront.

"Insurance info was way too unclear"
I booked a truck on u-haul.com, and the insurance section was more confusing than it needed to be. They show you a few options, but it still wasn’t obvious what was actually covered and what wasn’t.

I ended up clicking around trying to figure it out, and even then I felt like I was basically guessing. The wording makes it seem simple, but that’s kind of on them because when you’re actually choosing coverage, it really isn’t.

For something that matters this much, U-Haul should make it way clearer before you pay. It was frustrating and made the whole booking feel more stressful than it should have been.

The truck itself was fine, no major issues there. But wow, the staff at pickup made it feel like asking a couple basic questions was a federal crime. I literally just needed some simple info and got the shortest, most annoyed answers possible. Drop-off wasn’t much better either, kind of chaotic and unclear. It wasn’t the worst experience of my life or anything, but for the price and hassle, I definitely expected way better service.

"Price Was Actually What I Expected"
The final price was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, which is weirdly refreshing these days. I’m so used to seeing extra fees pop up out of nowhere at the last second, like surprise, here’s another random charge. But nope, the cost matched what I expected, and that alone made the whole thing feel way less annoying

My U-Box showed up late again, and I didn’t get any real updates along the way. I get that delays happen, but when you’re waiting around with no idea what’s going on, it starts to feel like your move isn’t exactly a priority

"The app made my U-Haul pickup more frustrating than it needed to be"
I tried using the U-Haul app to handle my pickup because I figured it would be the quickest and easiest way to get everything sorted out, especially on moving day when you already have a million things going on. Unfortunately, it ended up being way more annoying than I expected. A bunch of the pages were loading really slowly, and the check-in process just didn’t feel very clear or straightforward, so I kept second-guessing whether I was doing the right steps or missing something important.
I did eventually get through it, but I had to switch over to the website twice just to finish what I was trying to do, which kind of defeats the purpose of having the app in the first place. It wasn’t a total disaster, but when you’re dealing with moving, timing, keys, trucks, and everything else, the app really needs to be smoother and less clunky. I wanted it to make the process easier, but it just added extra stress

I showed up expecting a quick pickup, but the keys weren’t ready yet. I ended up just standing around not really sure what to do, and felt a little embarrassed having to keep asking about it. Took way longer than I expected

"Price didn’t match what I saw"
I thought the price was one thing when I first looked at it, but by the end there were extra fees added on all over the place. It just didn’t feel like what they showed at the start, and that kind of thing is frustrating.

"Easy After-Hours Drop Off"
I dropped the truck off after hours, and overall it was a easy process. The app guided me through taking the photos and entering the mileage, which I think most customers would find straightforward.
The only reason I’d go with 4 stars is that the lot was a little dark, so I wasn’t totally sure where I was supposed to park at first. Once I figured that out, everything went fine.
